Sabre Sales has a plastic kitchen bin full of GS caps and Tams for very little money each. Unfortunately, none fitted my massive 62-63cm head...

I have a tam with a missing bobble which was designed for the biggest head in the world, too big even for Yith. Best guess is it is a 66cm. It's yours if you want it.

Not just too big, but far too big.

My best guess it was made for Doctor Bruce Banner when he's angry.

I've been sent a link to a good sized tam' on eBay, and I've just managed to pick up a new GS cap at Stoneleigh - but i'll give it a try! I'll happily pay postage, and continue to pass it on if it doesn't fit me. :good:

The giant tam was posted on Thursday (I think). I guarantee it will be too big to be any use.

Do the wartime tams have a larger 'crown' than the modern versions (In the same way that berets do) ?

All I can tell you, is that they're exactly the same design as the GS beret/cap, but with a bow at the back and a pompom on top.

Yes ,they are the same size as the "cap ,ridiculous" the wartime GS cap.

Yes, I'd gathered from previous posts that they were the same designs.

With an apparent glut of modern tams (assumedly due to amalgamations etc), I was considering a modern tam at 'reasonable' price instead of a wartime/repro tam (or GS caps with a pom sewn on) at around twice as much, but I don't want to buy a modern version, to then go to a '40's event' etc., wear it and have someone doing the 'farby' routine; hence 'the berets had bigger crowns, did the tams ........................ ?'

Are most of the HG contingent going with tams or forage caps ?
